We are dedicated to providing the beginner and serious cook with new and exciting preservative and MSG free spice blends. All of our blends are developed and tested in professional kitchens with the idea of adding interesting flavors easily and healthfully. The end result of our love and passion for cooking and hospitality is for you to enjoy in the comfort of your own home.
In the Beginning it was The Pelican Club...
It all stated back in summer of 2000 with the Cuban Spice Rub on a pork chop at The Pelican Club Oceanfront Restaurant and Bar in Cape May, NJ. Customer and Restaurant Critic reviews catapulted the popularity of the "Cuban Spice Rubbed Pork Chop" to the number one item on the menu during the first summer till the closing of the restaurant at the end of 2005. Multiple guests started to inquire about purchasing the Cuban Spice Rub for home use, subsequently H A Spice Co.® was born (Hildreth Ave. Spice Co....;-)
Next Act Lucky Bones Back Water Grille...
The closing of the Pelican Club was another casualty of the real estate boom of the 2000's. We packed our bags and simply moved on to start Lucky Bones Back Water Grille in Cape May, NJ specializing in the modern Coastal Cape May Cuisine movement. This is where the original "Cuban Spice Rubbed Pork Chop" can still be found, along with many other delicious menu items. The beautiful thing is that the Pork Chop is still relevant after 20 years. It's an honor to be a part of that history.
Family of Friends...
All the while H A Spice Co.® was creating Chef Walter J's Cuban Spice Rub®, we were branching out and creating new signature spice blends for home and professional use. The slew of new business associates and home cooks that became fans of our blends quickly became friends and family.
